A New Kind of Leadership: Rooted, Reflective, and Queer

This past Sunday, after publishing the final day of my free 7-day program, Empower Your Leadership with Queer Integrity, I found myself reflecting on how to express the depth of the journey in a different way.

Words are my tools — but sometimes prose isn’t quite enough. So I wrote a poem.

While it may not make it into the queer literary canon (one can dream), it captures what I trust is the essence of my leadership philosophy with clarity, care, conviction — demonstrating the quiet power of leading from who you are — your grounded, confident strength of authenticity.

The six principles at the core of my coaching might seem simple at first — even easy to dismiss. But like the deep roots of an old oak tree, their strength lies in how far they reach below the surface, and how widely they support everything above.

This poem brings them together.

FEEL

Freedom begins in the body, an
Energy that whispers: you are enough.
Emotion is not weakness, it is the river of becoming.
Love yourself enough to reflect and flow.

KNOW

Key Notions of Worth rise quietly from within.
Not all beliefs are chosen, but you can choose anew.
Own the truth that steadies you, the trunk that roots your reach.
Walk with values that resonate conviction and pride.

THINK

Thought is a tool, not a pedestal.
Hold it like water, open-palmed, never clenched.
Inquiry is your compass,
Navigating nuance.
Kindness is your guide through paradox, polarities, and power.

VOICE

Voice is not volume—it’s resonance.
Own your way of creatively expressing your truth.
Imagine every word as an act of considerate observance,
Cultivating connection and understanding,
Even when silence speaks louder than words.

DREAM

Desire is sacred, the spark of your vision—
Rendered through creative innovation.
Emotion fuels the pathway of motivation.
Alignment is your rhythm, not restraint;
Method: your mastery of strategy and direction.

LEAD

Liberation is not a dream—it’s a daily practice.
Equity is how you meet the world in shared humanity,
Accountability, our dignity in motion.
Direction transforms challenges into clarity and change.

Don’t hold back…

You don’t lead because you have all the answers.
You lead because you’re willing to live with questions,
Openly, in community, and with human-heartedness.
This is what it means
To lead with queer integrity.
